Art work is originally made for the Forum Platform, stage for temporary art works, located inside the Forum shopping center. It is a ball made of black glossy acrylic with an opening for the viewer at the bottom. Ball is covered inside with light absorbing sound-insulation, giving a silent view to total darkness. “Sphere hangs from the ceiling like a strange and dumb planet dripping from space, reflecting the image of the viewer and the environment on its shiny surface. If you dare to slip under a round dome, the work will surprise you again: a sound-insulated, confusingly dark world will be revealed from within. Through the work, the visitor has to stop and face himself in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the mall. The flood of stimulins runs out for a moment, the senses are sensitized to a sudden silence. Darkness may scare some and calm others. In any case, the participatory work offers an unforgettable and perhaps even a meditative experience in the midst of everyday hustle and bustle. ” - Curator Katariina Timonen, Amos Anderson Art Museum
