Focus, 2006
Title for the artwork is borrowed from Latin word focus (“hearth, fireplace”). Focusing on something and gathering around the fire. The work presents a fragment of a room made out of soapstone. Soapstone is common material used to build fireplaces. In the work room around the fireplace is made from this material. Work is inspired from the old homes of mining workers situated near the location of the artwork. These buildings have otherwise collapsed but chimneys of fireplaces are still standing. / In collaboration with Anssi Pulkkinen
